U.S. students lag behind those in other countries in reading to acquire and use information. The reason could be a lack of experience with informational texts, as many U.S. classrooms contain mostly literary texts. Part of the solution is to involve students in informational text early in school by enacting the triad of reading real-world informational texts for real-world reasons in motivating contexts.(4pp.)
