Allan Odden
The goal of this article is to present some of the basic facts about the public education finance to create a common understanding of the level and uses of education funding. The authors consider sources of education resources, per-pupil expenditures, teacher salaries, administrative expenses, inter-district spending patterns, special education expenses, achievement and expenditure correlations, resources devoted to core academics, and attempts to restructure educational finance. The system needs to be restructured so that the substantial investment that the country has made in public education will pay off in terms of large increases in student achievement.(0pp.)
